    Getting a Maryland real estate license?

    Enroll in our Maryland Pre-License Course & satisfy all of the educational requirements to obtain a Maryland real estate license. You must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and complete the steps below:

    Complete 60 hours of pre-licensing education

    You must complete the 60-hour approved Pre-Licensing Course. Our course is completely online and works at your own pace. PREC offers this course at a discounted rate that is completely online and completed at your own pace. Learn more about our courses here.

    Complete the course final exam

    After you finish the course, you will need to take an online exam and pass with a minimum score of 70%.

    Pass the Maryland Real Estate Licensing Exam

    PSI Administers the in-person state licensing exam. There are 110 questions, covering the national and state-specific content. You will need 75% or higher to pass this exam.

    Submit Your Background Check

    You must submit your fingerprints to the Maryland State Police or FBI for a criminal background check. Click here for more information.

    Complete the application form

    This application must be filled out and submitted to the Maryland Real Estate Commission for approval. Complete the licensing process by submitting your licensing exam results to MREC along with the license fee of $98.00. Click here for more information.

    • Is Post-License education required in Maryland?

      The Maryland Real Estate Commission does not require a post-license education. Once you have obtained your initial Salesperson or Brokers license, you must complete 15 hours of Continuing Education every two years.
